MY DREAM JM CD

MAKE NO MISTAKE - My favourite JM song, really, but I think that the version I will have for my dream album is a live version I have on a naughty tape of Jm and DT in Germany in 1986. John's voice is just beautiful here, the guitar playing complimentary! This is a stunning vocal performance!

WOULD YOU BELIEVE ME - The song where John's style really seemed to start to come together on record. This number has a haunting spooky qaulity to it. I have heard a fascinating 1971 live version of this number, but I am sticking with the album version here!

SOLID AIR - Yes, I know, but sometimes a song gets popular because it really is good, not just because it is hyped. This is just such a song. Ok, we all know it is about Nick drake, but if you take the wider picture, that of a person reaching out to a friend in trouble, offering support unconditionally despite not really understanding all the problems, well, a wonderful sentiment wrapped up in a jazzy whole. Jm really painted it blue with this one!

SHE'S A LOVER - Woreks well with the song above, works well on it's own. If people really are trying to shoot John, we need to get the boys to pay them a visit!

THE DOWNWARD PULL OF HUMAN NATURE - A stunning slab of sound, which confounds the theory that the guitar took a vacation during the recording of AND! This is a Saturday evening type track, to be played before a night out on the razzle!

PATTERNS IN THE RAIN - Oh, the voice is in such wondewrful nick on this track, written by Foster Patterson, but infused with life and soul by John's vocal performance which just cuts through the flesh and attacks the heart direct!

ROOT LOVE - I find this rocky sexy track on my CD player more and more these days, which is odd as I keep trying to play Moloko! But really, this is just stonking, and it improves with every listen!

FINE LINES - Yes, JM's homage to Hans van den Berk's JM list, and a stand out track from my favourite JM album.

OUTSIDE IN - The LIVE AT LEEDS version I think. Just the business, echoplex wise!

SO MUCH IN LOVE WITH YOU - Underrated, but not underplayed in my house. A jazzy instrumental from the man which I cannot live without!

So there you have it my lovlies! Feel free to disagree!
