John Martyn. Singer, guitarist, songwriter, all round music man! Folk, blues, reggae, jazz, trip-hop, Jm has soaked up all these musical styles and more! From 1968 to the present day, his recorded and live output has been prodigious. There have been many highs, one or two lows, but life with Jm is NEVER boring! A man with devoted ( if sometimes highly critical) fans, he continues to make music which provokes and excites.
It looks like being a bumper year for JM and his followers. Already, there has been a successful UK band tour, with a real return to form. Then, Jm's appearance on a dance single which flirted on the fringes of the UK pop charts. Now, here we are on the eve of the UK 'Sunshine Boys' tour, a reunion with the great bassman Danny Thompson. JM has reportedly bought an echoplex just for the occassion, and I for one can't wait! Then, there are the two Sunshine Boys releases to look forward to, two live CDs of previous John and Danny live work. There is also the prospect of a new studio album this year, which may well eclipse the interesting if slightly disappointing"Glasgow Walker" from last year!WHAT THESE PAGES WILL BE!
